Qenos Olefins site has partially shutdown the SCAL-1 plant today (1st February) following an unplanned compressor shutdown. The plant will remain partially shutdown for 10 days to complete some essential maintenance which was originally scheduled to begin next week.
The rest of the SCAL-1 plant will be kept on standby which will require some flaring for the duration of these works. The flaring is being minimised to avoid impacting our neighbours and local community.

Flares are used to safely burn waste gases which cannot be recovered or recycled in the processing plants.
