The Altona Petrochemical Complex commenced operations in 1961 and has operated continuously since. The Complex has been a significant contributor to life in Altona through that period, providing direct employment, significant flow on economic activity to other local businesses while complex companies have provided generous support and sponsorship's to local entities.
The Complex is a significant manufacturer of petrochemical products for the Australian market with Qenos, BASF and Dow currently operating at the site. Complex lies in the wedge of land between Kororoit Creek Road at its North boundary, the Geelong Railway line to the South and Burns Road to the West.
